It's clear the money is not there, and Texas St. doesn't move the needle right now.

Yes sir. And a tv contract with CBSSN. That should be the first non starter.

    Disagree.

The MWC doesn't move the needle for Texas State. They see what's going on. The MWC is headed for the floor once UNLV and Air Force bolt, and they will.

The fact that they are publicly courting Tarleton State speaks volumes. They are also courting Big Sky fcs schools right now behind the scenes. They are desperate. They are headed for CUSA, bottom dwellar status.

    No weekday games?

    No 11am kickoff?

And nobody watching. I, along with a vast majority of CFB fans, have never watched a game on CBSSN.

Agree with you on this. The MWC absolutely invited them. And, yes, the MWC is scrambling now.

And, while you may be correct about UNLV and AFA, it won't happen soon. They're going to receive 55% of conference revenue. That might not be enough to keep them down the road, but it is for now.

Now we are playing semantics. Either way they had to walk their interest back publicly. As Jay stated the legacy programs are receiving more money banked rolled by exit fees. Any new member will not receive the same media share. Texas State did the math and realized travel cost alone would not make the move feasible. Either way conference realignment below the P5 at this time is more about regional realignment for the near future.

And where do UNLV and AFA go Jay, the PAC 12? They have no media deal in writing from ESPN. They are offering numbers simply on projection. This is why Memphis and Tulane were quick to pull their names out.

And while I get the attraction to remain with rivalries in the PAC 12, when it comes down to it the PAC 12, ACC and the BIG 12 they are simply reshuffling chairs on the deck of the Titanic. This is why Clemson, Florida State and Miami are suing the ACC and begging to get out the Conference. Both Steve Hale and Chuck Ninas said this would eventually happen almost 12 years ago. There will be another reclassification and some current members of the P5 will find themselves left behind. I don't know when this will happen, it could be a decade or less, after much litigation.

Dr. Maggard believes that eventually we will find ourselves in a slightly better position in a new regional or super G5 conference with members that will not make the cut. I agree with that view, and everything today is simply reshuffling the chairs on the deck of the Titanic below the SEC and Big 10.

Yes. The AAC would take them as well. They wouldn't risk being shut out just to make some money now. They have a longer view point than that.

I agree, and we need to make sure we are in the highest rated group of schools possible in OUR REGION when that happens.

Their longer view ends up in the same destination in the long run, working from larger budgets for slightly more money and minus exit fees and travel cost. It won't be $7M per team. All current members are not receiving that media share today.

This is interesting to hear, because this is my gut feeling as well.

The PAC and MWC are looking for ways to patch the gaping holes in their ships and they're desperate. The patchwork isn't pretty and the folks at ESPN won't be impressed. The universities doing their homework realize that the big money isn't there anymore. The Big-12, PAC, and MWC are holding on to conference names that don't have the same value they once did. I know some want to see UL make a move to a better conference, the key here is making a move that is truly financially rewarding, right now there is a lot of fool's gold out there.
