It is totally ridiculous that the MWC would court Tarleton State, an FCS school, over New Mexico State. Time for UNM and UTEP to think about the conference and not about petty hatred.

Utep, nmst, and New Mexico all play each other every year.

If that were the case for La tech, Tulane, and UL we wouldn’t need to be in the same conference.

You guys are still using athletic success/performance as a reason these schools would get an invite to another conference. Tarleton State is an hour from Fort Worth, with population growing in that direction. New Mexico St is in a city smaller than Lafayette, surrounded by the desert.

Texas State might be the best buy-low candidate in the country based on where they are geographically and demographically. They have double our student pop and they're sitting in an insane TV market.

UL needs to focus its energy on giving people a reason to come to their games.. and that reason is NOT going to be "quality of competition in a pretty good G5 conference"

Not quite correct. NMSU is in an MSA of 1.3 million people. [They are only 47 miles down I-10 from El Paso.] 47 miles in west Texas and New Mexico is practically next door.

I concur, having lived in Odessa for 2 years.

Maybe TX St. just played the diminished MWC, while really preening for the PAC12 invite? Whatever the case, they earned a great deal of mostly positive media coverage for their dalliance. Now their name will continue popping up in the national conversation. Can't see any downside to their tossing their name in the hat activity.

Regardless, we need to pound them when we play later this season.

There is zero downside to what Texas State just did.

Massive exposure and top of mind awareness created.

...speaking of Zero (0, as in none, naught, nil...), the TX State bobcats have zero victories, ever, against the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns football teams and the Cajuns have eleven (11) in a row, ever, against the cats without a tail.

Texas Bobcats are a very timid breed.

Louisiana Bobcats are quite ferocious, particularly around the Erath area.

They do struggle when they go up against Panthers though….at least the ones that show up in red and white.

The way we have dominated Tx St is the way So Miss has dominated us.

    Let's stop that domination Saturday.

    GEAUX CAJUNS!
