Ole Milton sure got its act together very quick. Hopefully, it will downgrade as projected prior to landfall. Either way, not a good situation for Florida.

Latest from NHC 911mb! Crazy deep storm. Winds 175-190mph if you can believe the guys who fly into hurricanes, on purpose.

That downgrade will probably be a curse. Right now it is an extremely tight storm (11 mile wide eye) with tropical storm force winds only reaching out about 80 miles. If the storm does downgrade all that energy will spread out over a wider area and cause it to pick up more water for a storm surge.

Same thing happened with Katrina, Rita, & Opal. All were CAT 4-5 that downgraded just prior to landfall and we know what those storms did.

Its pretty much a done deal at this stage that the Tampa area is fixing to get rearranged like a bull in a China shop.

Yep-6 of one . That increased wind field spreads the misery far and wide for the price of little lower top end.

Perfect conditions at the perfect time. Nature is both cruel and amazing.
