Bigger question/problem is how will we maintain our R1 status if our acceptance rate just skyrocted to 88.8 percent???

And when did this increase occur? I seem to recall it being 55percent

If we are bleeding money, how does R1 help us?

Fair enough.... one of those old addage's can we afford it, or can we afford not to have it.

P.s. are we really bleeding money, if lswho needed an extra 30 million for their library couldnt it be argued they are 30 million over budget amd bleeding money?

The only way they don't bleed money this year is if they always operate with a $25 million cushion.

$25 million or more was yanked from funding.

Good point. Since budgets go up and down, everywhere, in all types of fields, I fail to see how a budget shortfall in the future is an administrator in the past's fault or mistake

I don't think it does anything to non grant money applying professors. The troughs are larger for "R1" schools!

Heck LSU needs an extra 53 million. The only negotiation Kelly is doing is HOW he’s get his 53 million.

They should have put a clause that he only gets the buyout money if he continues to live in b.rouge.... lol.

To clarify, LSU fired Burger King knowing they owed 53 M. They’ve offered him lump sums of 25, then later 30 million. Any sane person would say no.

College football has become a race to bankruptcy. Looks like LSU is winning the race. But there is a steep cliff at the finish line.
