He may not have realized it at the time or remember it now, but Desormeaux did this (to a degree) with Fenroy.

I have many posts praising Desormeaux for his execution of the fake handoff which was a delayed handoff or pullback.

Kept the defense off balance.

Same concept, but extremely different schemes. This is as innovative as the Air Raid, imo.
