Fortunatly for those "with some institutional knowledge" they aren't dealing with a perishable or something that needs to stay in the cooler days in advance.

Im one that only drinks water on days like that, so no soda, no beer till later.

One water per-hour per attendee might be a fair line of protection, especially since it will still be good in two weeks.
that seems to be a little overboard and out right obnoxious . . . real Cajuns drink beer at football games. . .

Which is why I wish Hospitailty Management would run concessions, not Sodexo.

I say that knowing it would be unique to the industry.

You make a real good point.

Did you see my 20% post earlier today?

If I wanted to divert attention from my company's ineptitude, I would send out a false number SQUIRREL changing the discussion to start a numbers debate focusing on the reporter getting the actual number wrong. This way no one would look at my company's original failure. Limiting liability lawsuits is my number one concern.

Conditions will no doubt be better for next home game. Expect 1-1 at worse over the next 2 weeks. Opponent is App St. There will be some in attendance last week that were there solely because it was Tulane. Regardless, the +/- change in attendance from Tulane to App St will tell you if the admin succeeded or failed. Doesn't matter if you did the right or wrong thing. It's if you did what you needed to create repeat and/or new customers.

    1. I know people can't predict every scenario. I was hopeful this was the first time Cajun Field ran out of water and figured it would be a tough lesson learned, not to be repeated. After reading this thread, am I understanding correctly that this has happened in the somewhat recent past? If so, I am angered that THEY, that *SOMEONE*, with some institutional knowledge didn't step up and say, "Hey, y'all remember that time people got baked in the sun? Maybe we should be better prepared this time around?"

    2. Opposing point of view - I would assume the vast majority of people who purchased the 23,000 tickets are grown a** adults who should be able to prepare for baking in the sun without having to be told how to dress and hydrate, etc. Was UL admin, athletics, whomever supposed to tell us how to properly apply sunscreen, too? I showed up at my tailgate spot at 8:30 am and knocked back Powerade until I walked into the stadium. Went straight to concessions and got my two beers plus a couple waters. Went to concessions at the half. No water. Got me another couple beers and a couple diet cokes. Left after the clock hit 00:00 with no medical interventions needed.

Could the Powers That Be have done things differently? Yep. Should we try some personal responsibility as well? Yep. Let's all do our part.

    Geaux Cajuns!
Here is the issue. We tried to sneak in bottles of water. They were seen and confiscated... So they sent us into a place with inadequate hydration and did not allow us to bring in our own source. Honestly that is almost criminal but I am not going there. Others have said water does not perish... if you are expecting 20,000 bring 30,000. Not going to waste.... I am always there for Cajun games but this was unacceptable and don't try to justify it. Just do better

Just got an email from Athletics that 17,000+ bottles of water were distributed for the game. Still not enough for 22,534.

I recall the back of tickets having a sort of disclaimer about injury at games...For those who got a ride to the hospital, Who's going to pick up the tab for Acadian Ambulance and the ER or Dr. Visit? Who bears that responsibility in this instance?

“Louisiana Athletics is continuing to work with the concessions partner to resolve the issues faced during game day.” I was somewhat reassured when we got this type of response 5 years ago. It’s just painfully obvious at this point that nothing is going to change.

17,000 would be ok only if they let you A) Bring in 1 water water bottle per person and B) Had free refill stations.

Ive been to many of music festivals during the summer and this is the way to go.

Concession sales are more important than people’s health and safety evidently

It would be different if they 1) didn’t run out of water and 2) actually had sufficient point of sale locations for the amount of people at the games

I get that there’s construction going on (totally understandable) but maybe they need to adjust some policies to accommodate the lack of infrastructure this season

Yep... This really is not hard to figure out... OVER supply water in a situation like that or allow you to bring in your own. Anything else is unacceptable...

Too their credit and not sure who supplied this but there was a tent in the South Endzone supplying free cups of water and large fans under a tent... Kudos who made this decision
