Thread: OT: Supposedly Napier out at Florida?

  1. Default Re: OT: Supposedly Napier out at Florida?

Really think Florida needs to look in the mirror long and hard. Does Napier need to go? Yes.

Does Florida have a pattern of hire/fire? Yes. Has it worked? No.

Nobody has gotten a good run since Urban Meyer.

If they fire Napier today they have a losing season and out 26 million.

If they don't fire him today they have a losing season. Plus they are stuck with an interim head coach.

So what are they going to do? Neither option is good but Given the big money and egos to go with the big money I suspect they fire him sooner rather than later.

So if Napier gets the axe, does this mean we finally get Lights Out in Blackham from Dougie?

Florida has a winnable game this week at Miss. St. Win there and he outlasts their Bye week. Maybe a win over Kentucky after that and he hangs on awhile longer. I realize there's a big night and day difference between the SBC and SEC, but thought Napier would go to Florida and get them turned around. Maybe not surpass Georgia and Alabama by now, but at least register a winning record. Oh well.

Florida has a culture problem that started well before Billy… It will be a hard place for a coach to succeed. Billy has been a dead man walking since he was hired… there were folks there that didn’t want him and that caused more problems…. If Ga Southern moves on from Clay Helton he will become coach there.

If I were Billy.....with young kids, if you are going to fire me? Just get it done et do it now. The sooner I can get my kids out of Gainesville the better.

Another factor is the AD. He hired Mullen and then fired him and hired Napier.

He likely wouldn't get to hire a 3rd football coach before he is pushed out. With that in mind I'm sure he is backing Napier hard. Probably won't be enough for either

I think he did a great job here but was also phenomenally lucky with some of the talent left here when he started, and with the way the team won several close games in spite of his in game coaching.
I think he was our Orgeron. Made some great hires staff wise but he did recruit really well whether that was him or his assistants. He gave us a chance to compete always.

So the people there didn't want a guy with a ranked program and unprecedented success over a 3 year period but they'd want Ga Southern's coach?

It would show the hiring of CMD was the right decision if he has a successful season. I think that's the point.

    But, successful is subjective.
