Where’s the East going and why would the conference be dead if they left?

There is conjecture that if ACC/AAC have enough departures of their own, there could be an invite extended to App State/Marshall/JMU/ODU as a block into a conference. Joining with other Eastern schools like Charlotte, ECU, etc.

If the best of the SBC East gets gobbled up by a depleted ACC, that means that they have also gobbled up the best of the AAC East.

At that point the AAC West schools will dominate the conversation and cherry pick what is left of the SBC. We would end up in a Texas based league with schools like UTSA, Texas State, Rice, North Texas, Tulsa, Arkansas State, Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss etc .etc.

    Sounds good to me.

I’d be all for a south central type conference

If I got to cherry pick with no bearing on real life circumstances:

    Tulsa
    Memphis
    Tulane
    USM
    Texas State
    Rice
    South Al
    Troy
    Louisiana

If worthwhile for Memphis, Tulane, and UTSA to bolt for the refurbished PAC 12 the AAC is left with 10 all sports members:

    Tulsa
    North TX
    Rice
    UAB
    So. FL
    FAU
    East Carolina
    Charlotte
    Navy
    Temple

Army joined for football only. Wichita St. for Olympic sports only.

Pac 12 would be smart to stay west… I think they will eventually add Air Force and UNLV to get to 8…. After that they might try to push east into Texas, but right now no one knows the TV deal they will get… if I was them I would push hard to bring CAL and Standford back into the fold… the ACC is a dead man walking….if the ACC implodes the sunbelt will be in trouble if they keep a substantial portion of their TV deal intact…. Also could be a good situation for the belt to as the AAC could take the more northeast schools into their fold and the belt could pick up some southern schools… I think more than anything it will be what happens to the ACC tv deal in basketball that could decide if it can with stand the earthquake that is about to happen… Memphis and Tulane want out the AAC so they will probably push hard to be a back fill if just FSU and Clemson leave. One thing for sure is as this playoff deal changes after next year you will see conferences make moves that will be the next big shift.

They also list North Texas as being in CUSA.

My guy lost all credibility when he listed North Texas in CUSA.

I just saw a blurb online saying they could go after Texas State, among other schools.
