Thread: PAC 12

  1. Default Re: PAC 12

How about a blind draw for all conference memberships every five years?

Put a few different bins of ping pong balls and you can line up so each conf gets 2 or 3 "blue bloods" or 2 or 3 bottom dweelers or a certain amount per region, see world cup bracket Draw as an example

You could probably even sell the ping pong balls with the logos, yeah more branding!!!

From what I have been reading, the PAC 12 appears to be looking at markets that teams are in for additional members, using a similar format that the AAC used. Matter little if those schools have little presence in those markets.

    Tulane - New Orleans
    Memphis - Memphis ?
    N. Texas - Dallas
Texas State - San Marcos - in between San Antonio & Austin (perceived as having a winning program - last year only)
UTSA - San Antonio, but would only take one of the two schools

    Then, other MWC schools.

UNLV - Las Vegas (obvious - should have been one of the first added)
San Jose State - San Francisco market
    New Mexico - Albuquerque market
    Hawaii - attractive destination

It will be interesting to see where this goes.

They money has to be at least $15 Million/Year for Tulane and Memphis to make the jump…and even then it’s a huge gamble.

    AAC and Air Force flirting.

If MWC gets gutted, they should merge with CUSA. I’m sure though egos will get in the way though.

Both schools have the finances to make it work (Fed Ex for Memphis and endowment for Tulane), but only if the PAC 12 retains P5 status which they both seek. Otherwise, not worth the move and just wait for the ACC to implode and create openings.

UL beating Tulane would be a signature win this year and open eyes to us. Big game in a lot of ways.

Also on cbssports.com a PAC 12 story by Dennis Dodd takes a deep dive about current innerworkings of the renewed conference. Projects top choices for next PAC 12 invites:
    1. Air Force, 2. UNLV, 3. Memphis, 4. UTSA.

If so drops the MWC to 6 members but they could add UTEP and NMSU pretty quick. MWC could then look for western based move ups if they desire. Then does AAC rebuild its western flank or stand pat?
