I just don't see any way an invite from them would be coming our way.
Likely not, just dreaming. It will probably take wins over Tulane and Wake Forest for any interest and that may not be enough. Then again, would a concerted effort by our AD to create interest help? Would likely be the one and only shot at a Power conference for us.

A meaningful long term ROI has to be there for UL. If not, don't pull a Tech.

Absolutely. But if the PAC retains its Power 5 status, that should generate the revenue needed for that guarantee. It would also need to create an Eastern Division that might include schools like Memphis, Tulane, UL, Rice, UTSA and N. Texas.

We walking a fine line with this. Agree. Do not want to pull a Tech and burn bridges. SBC is solid right now. Especially in Football and Baseball.

Two things that are driving this, an opportunity to keep the PAC 12 brand and a TV contract that has been negotiated that is worth half of the former contract which is more than the current MWC media deal.

Anyone could ask to be considered are offered to buy into the new formation, which will require two more members to become eligible for the bowls and playoffs. They would like all members to remain in the Western and Mountain Time Zones. Clearly, they are going to manage travel cost. In know why do we or any other SBC school meet their requirements.

The PAC won’t ever get back to the inner circle. That’s why almost everyone jumped off the sinking ship. Fool’s gold in play now. Pacific time zone is a killer marketing wise. There is NOBODY in the East being considered that moves the marketing meter.

UL needs to have their house in order for whatever is realistically next. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again…the SBC East is perfectly set up to breakaway with the right incentives.

100% when the ACC loses FSU and Clemson, UNC, Duke, and NCSU will head to the Big 10. That will open the door for the remnants to join up with the SBC east to try keep the ACC alive. This is coming.

And no poison pill will slow them down from leaving.

Future pac whatever will not get an auto bid to the playoff. They’ll be bunched in with the g5 soon 6 for the 5th auto bid. There’s no reason for the Cajuns to look to that conference. The belt is in a good spot and we have the same chance at the playoff as they do.

When the East leaves the Belt is dead. UL needs to be proactive or we will be back in the Southland soon

Along with P4, I’ve seen G6 used by media too.

Relegation will never happen, the pecking order will never allow it.

I figure in the next decade the ACC breakaway happens in a few years in by the end of the decade the Vanderbilts will start being squeezed out, triggering another G6 reshuffle.

The wild card today is not only the MWC, it’s the AAC…who gets the ACC call up in a few years.

Crazy I can’t remember the last time the East won an outright SBC title.

The PAC 12 leftovers are picking off the MWC top tier. Maybe they try to pick up Tulane and Memphis? Tulane and Memphis should probably stay put but what if they bolted? If so UL should begin making inquiries with the AAC and hopefully So. Miss will to replace them. As others have mentioned its a matter of time before the ACC top tier goes to the B10 and SEC. History will repeat itself. The ACC leftovers will reload by picking off a few top tier AAC eastern region schools. Then the AAC picks up a few top tier SBC East schools. Then the SBC reloads with who knows? IMO we can't afford to be passive or we'll end up with tread marks on our backs. In a perfect world the top tier of AAC and SBC schools merge but realignment doesn't work all nice and neat that way. The next step towards UL becoming part of a 'best of the rest' situation likely involves future AAC membership.

The status of the Sunbelt is higher than it has ever been…and yet, we should still move if there is an opportunity. Zero question about that.

    Why?

The name recognition of Sunbelt schools is a contributor to putting 10K in the Cajun Field.
