Was reading last night, the deal killer for most of the universities the PAC is currently recruiting is when member votes are held, WSU AND OSU must both be included in the majority vote. If they disagree, motion will fail.
1. It would be insane for Tx State to join the Mtn. West. Their TV deal is temporarily better, but won’t be when it expires. And there’s a high likelihood that conference won’t exist in a few years.
2. I’d be shocked if the MTN west hasn’t secretly offered multiple schools.
I don't think Texas St leaves for MWC, but they would for a PAC12 invite.
All these teams trying to save MST and PST teams are fighting a losing battle. You can’t fight geography and human behavior. Over half the US population is asleep when your football is being played. It’s why their brethren tied into the Big 10 and ACC, cuts that liability basically 30 to 50 percent.
The PAC 12 has no media agreement, they are making promises based upon preliminary discussions, which is why they are having a hard time finding programs to risk movement. The number they are floating around is $10M per school, but it come be less than that if they can't find quality brands to join.
10-4.
If it comes in around 5 million, or even 10, where’s the payoff for a CST program? Travel eats the “raise” financially. Everyone knows a full share isn’t being offered.
WSU and OSU needs to accept the divorce from their former PAC brethren is done, and once the “community property” settlement money runs out, their “lifestyle” will be taking a hit. In essence, they’re no longer welcomed at the big boy table. And their new peers drive Ford F150s, not European exotics. quicker that happens, sooner this all gets resolved.
Well, would you not be elevating anyone from a lower conference whether it was CUSA or FCS? To me this is a false argument. No program is leaving the AAC to join the SBC because their media contract is worth $5M more a year. So, the SBC is probably asking ESPN if they added 3 new members would the pay us additional money. I don't think they will be open to it at this time, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
At this point I'm leaning WKU because they have a better football program and mbb program. They are in CUSA just like the other two options.JMO
