UL' s Zach Osborne earned this week’s Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week honors the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Zach Osborne fired a complete game, one-hit shutout of Troy – a team that came in hitting .326 – on Friday, April 9 in the series opener, setting the tone for the weekend sweep. It was his third complete game of the season and seventh quality start.

Osborne was the first Cajuns pitcher to toss a complete game, one-hit shutout in Sun Belt Conference play since Scott Dohmann on May 2, 1999 vs. Louisiana Tech. The leadoff hitter reached base only twice – neither time on the benefit of a hit – on Osborne and he held the Trojans to a 0-for-9 showing with runners on base.

He faced only four hitters over the minimum and after surrendering a hit in the third inning, held the Trojans hitless over the final 6 2/3 innings of play. He struck out seven Trojans and lowered his ERA 40 points down to 2.25 in the process.

The pitcher of the week award is the second for UL’s Osborne.
