HOUSTON, Texas - Riding a six-match unbeaten streak, the Louisiana soccer team looks to match the program record of seven on Thursday at Rice.
Louisiana is off to its 4-0-2 start thanks to their defense. Heading into the week the Cajuns have only allowed two goals and 10 shots on goal, keeping opposing offenses in check. After having five all of last season, the team has posted four clean sheets this season.
??"If you've got energy and competitive spirit it's really hard to break us down," said head coach Chris McBride. "Everyone's buying in and bringing energy to execute a game plan, I can't credit the players enough for that."
Thursday is the second road contest of the season for the Ragin' Cajuns, who haven't hit the road since the season opener on August 15 at McNeese. After five in a row at home, hitting the road presents more challenges for the Cajuns.
"You're not going to travel everyone, so you have to make sure everyone on the sidelines brings the energy," said McBride. "You have to take the energy we've had at home games on the road. Rice is a short trip but it's still a trip where we're not sleeping in our beds and we have to get our routine down and make sure our preparation is good. These next two games are a test of our preparation and learning to control what we do."
