Concussions are more likely on natural grass fields.

Well, if the grass isn't very thick and the ground is hard from lack of rain or a lot of clay in the ground, I can see why they are seeing this difference. The new artificial turfs have much more cushion today than in the early days. When we played NW back in 76, they had turf which was basically, low-pile carpet over cement. It was slick and hard. We played in freezing rain that year and lost our first game of the season 7-6. Septien missed and extra point. The ball was like playing with a frozen watermelon!

That’s always the holders fault right?

Yep...that's one way to look at it. LOL!

I remember coming off the field and looking him in the eye waiting to see if he was going to blame the hold, but he didn't. Hey, it was freezing rain and kicking a cold, heavy, wet ball is no guarantee, even a PAT. When NW scored, it wasn't raining.

Watching him kick was so much fun. So reliable.

Wow. Dont they have a different ball for kicks now? You could keep the kicking ball warm and the ref will swap it in at the last second before a kick play?
