Thread: Can TE Terrance Carter Put Up Ladarius Green Numbers?

  1. UL Football Can TE Terrance Carter Put Up Ladarius Green Numbers?

UL offensive coordinator Tim Leger still remembers the first time he ever saw Terrance Carter.

The Killeen, Texas, native was visiting Lafayette on a recruiting trip during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We haven't had an offensive scheme that threw to the TE as much as we did to Ladarius Green. Since Ladarius Green, Neal Johnson presented some matchup issues for defenses, and we used him some, but not nearly as much as we saw the Gauthier to Green connection. He balled out in the 2011 game vs. Monroe and the bowl game.

Correct. We don't commit ourselves to throwing to the TE, especially down the seams where a guy like Green was a beast. We don't really commit to any one WR or TE in our schemes. We generally just rotate so many guys that I think its hard for anybody to get into a groove and take advantage of matchups.

Was it the 2011 game against ULM where Green recovers the onside kick? He was great in that game.

While I agree with you guys that LG was a monster of a tight end for us, look at what was in Kevin's article:

"Not since Ladarius Green in 2011 has UL enjoyed a superstar receiving season from a tight end. That year, Green caught 51 passes for 606 yards and eight scores on his way to being drafted in the fourth round by San Diego.
Consider this, the combined totals of Neal Johnson and Carter last season was 58 catches for 638 yards and eight touchdowns — very similar to Green’s big season 13 years ago."

Our tight end position is alive and well.

    GEAUX CAJUNS!
