This makes 24 on the Roster for 2025 unless someone leaves or comes in in January. The Transfers are all Top Notch. They will make an impact right away. Our coaches took their time and really researched, interviewed and prayed about the choices they had. I think they made good decisions. The players who did not leave will be on the field if they work for it. It will be an exceptional Fall Season. We have 6 pitchers, 3 catchers, and almost everyone else can play multiple positions. Nice problem for the Coaches to have. Looking good!
Just looking at the roster and realized we only had 10 players on the roster from last season. 10 players left or finished their careers. Actually on Denali Loecker finished her eligibility, transferred out.
14 newcomers on the way in with 6 being true freshman and 8 transfers. Good grief! This is going to be a season like no other!
Kind of hard to predict anything with so much change, both on the staff and among players. We will have to have some pitchers step up, and we have to hope we do not have any chemistry issues, given that so many of the girls have not played together before. We are fortunate to have proven leaders like Kayla Falterman and Maddy Hayden, and a solid core of returning players who know how to succeed at this level.
I believe we can still win the conference this year, but keeping that insane consecutive conference series win streak alive will be a challenge.
The previous staff had some outstanding transfer classes and had a lot of success getting players from schools like Northwestern State (Rawls) and St. Thomas (Ellestad) and really getting the maximum out of them. But they had players from the SEC, Big 10, Big 12 and others also that really came in and had an immediate impact.
I'm really glad the current staff has filled in a lot of the gaps. Especially that late in the summer after the portal had closed. Where we are getting the players from doesn't jump off the page like they have in the past, but Habetz and crew know what they are doing. It may take some time. We may not be in the top 25 or even top 50 right out the gate. But we have to trust the process.
Thanks. That’s what I thought. The time to enter the portal was closed for a few days before Glasco even left. So, there was a month of transactions that had already occurred. Players entering then leaving the portal. Coach Habetz was already behind the 8 ball when she accepted the job at the end of June. Not sure who else was out there, but it seems like she did well getting immediate help.
