I hate to say this, guys, but Fertitta's right. The way things are now, the ONLY way their (UH's) program, AND OURS, is going to compete with P5 teams, is to sink the bulk, if not all their money into their NIL program so they can get and retain the best talent possible. That's what it has come down to, like it or not.

We doing the right thing with football stadium overhaul/upgrades. Its a huge deal. Facility wise, we're in a good position relative to vast majority of G5 and quite a few P5 schools in many of our athletic venues. But no, we're not going to compete with P5 on NIL $$ payouts nor should we position ourselves that way. I don't know if the current NIL fundraising strategy gets us to the top ten or fifteen G5 average NIL dollars, but that's probably the level its takes to become competitive for the CFP slot on an annual basis. Not crazy about shoveling even small amounts of donor money in the NIL direction but that's the new rules of the road now. I mean we're competing against Boise, Memphis, UTSA, Fresno, San Diego St., Tulane, App St., Liberty, FAU to name a few. Most are in larger metro areas with some built in advantages. Will require our Cajun ingenuity to overcome their monetary advantages. The new football stadium will help us with that, just don't price out the rank and file fans when aiming for the top.
