Five nationally-ranked programs are on campus at Louisiana
LOUISIANA La. - Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team will host the Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis Tournament this weekend at Cajun Courts and Bourgeois Hall Tennis Courts on the campus of the University of Louisiana at La.
This year's field includes 12 teams, including five nationally-ranked programs. Host Louisiana, Arkansas-Little Rock, No. 45 South Alabama and No. 71 New Orleans will represent the Sun Belt Conference. No. 14 Tulane and Southern Mississippi will represent the Conference USA, while No. 24 Louisiana State and No. 42 Mississippi State will represent the Southeastern Conference. Texas-Arlington, Southeastern Louisiana, Lamar University and Southern University will also participate in this weekend's tournament.
The tournament will consist of two flights of singles with 32 slots each and two flights of doubles with 16 slots each.
Six Cajuns will participate this weekend for Louisiana. Sophomore Evghenii Corduneanu enters the weekend with a 16-5 fall record. Joining Corduneanu will be Amanjot Singh, Marc Castellana, Ivan Kovalev, Zach Saloom and Shaun Ellison. Corduneanu lost to fellow teammate Amanjot Singh Tuesday in the singles consolation finals of the ITA South Central Regional Championships. Singh won 6-4, 6-1.
Admission to this weekend's tournament is free.
Tournament play begins at 8 a.m. Today.
