Default Louisiana joins US Department of Justice's lawsuit against Ticketmaster

BATON ROUGE— Louisiana is now one of 40 states that has joined the U.S. Department of Justice's antitrust lawsuit against Live Nation-Ticketmaster.

In May, U.S. DOJ officials filed the suit alleging Ticketmaster holds a monopoly over the live concert industry. They claim the company engages in anticompetitive behavior. The DOJ says the company's monopolistic control over the industry harms fans, artists and venue operators.

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill says Live Nation-Ticketmaster's conduct violates the law.

"Anticompetitive conduct hurts consumers by blocking choices and increasing prices. I look forward to resolving this case in a way that protects the public and Louisianans from such anticompetitive practices in the future," Murrill said.

The amended complaint also lists additional allegations of the company's monopolistic behavior.

“There is nothing new in the Amended Complaint - the lawsuit still won’t solve the issues fans care about relating to ticket prices, service fees, and access to in-demand shows. We look forward to sharing more facts as the case progresses,” a representative from Live Nation-Ticketmaster said.

It’s been stated on here that Ticketmaster tacks on fees for football tickets that almost cause the price to double. If that’s still the case, any chance this suit could start a string of events where those additional fees are cut down?

Are the individuals who knowingly signed their fan's fortunes away included in the lawsuit?

Problem with that is the university uses Sodexo for all on campus food services. So they would have to find a new food vendor for on campus cafeterias too.

For a school with a degree in Hospitality Management, this should be handled in house.

Yeah no not even a consideration. Students in the program are doing internships and other industry trainings/work already.

We have an architect department, mechanical, civil and electrical engineering. Don't see them doing our building designs and maintenance do you? Nor would you want too.

It is a massive job with very slim margins most of the time.
