UL's grand plans to upgrade defense begin with slowing down the running game

It’s no secret the UL defense must do a better job of stopping the run this season.

“That message was said my first day here,” said defensive tackle Fitzgerald West, who transferred from LSU during the offseason. “It was understood that there was going to be a big emphasis on stopping the run.”

Cajuns defense gave up 3.9 ypc last season. Thats not bad so there must have been some ups and downs statistically. On the flip side Cajuns avg a yard better at 4.9.. big problem was 3rd and 1-2 yards was a struggle on the ground defensively.
