Greg Fontenot and Jordan Poirrier homered in the bottom of the seventh to lift Louisiana back into the lead for good as the Ragin' Cajuns posted an 8-5 victory over Troy Sunday afternoon at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field, completing the series sweep.
Fontenot provided the insurance in the bottom of the eight when he dribbled a single up the middle of the infield with the bases loaded to score two additional runs.
Ryland Parker, who got the final two outs in the seventh, kept the Trojans hitless in the final two innings to secure the sweep for Louisiana (18-14, 7-8 Sun Belt).
UL, which clinched its first Sun Belt series victory of 2010 with a win Saturday, collected its first sweep of Troy (16-15, 4-8 Sun Belt) in Sun Belt play. UL is now 11-4 at "The Tigue" vs. the Trojans, 16-7 overall.
Louisiana will carry a four-game winning streak - tied for the longest streak of the season - into a non-conference contest with Houston Baptist on Tuesday, April 13 at "The Tigue". First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
Back-to-back doubles - from Poirrier and Chad Keefer - to start the bottom of the sixth broke a 2-all tie and pulled UL ahead.
The Trojans elected to lift starting pitcher Drew Hull for Chase Whitley. Tyler Frederick collected the Cajuns' third double of the inning on a looper down the right field line and a wild pitch scored Keefer to up the lead to 4-2.
A leadoff single and hit by pitch gave the Trojans two baserunners to start the seventh. Adam Bryant cashed in with a ground-rule double that plated both runners.
A wild pitch by Parker would allow Bryant to score and give the Trojans a brief lead, 5-4.
Fontenot's first home run of the season evened the score and Porrier's blast - his third of the series - came with two outs and vaulted the Cajuns into a 6-5 lead.
Fontenot led Louisiana with three RBI. He was the team's leading hitter in the series, going 5-for-10 with three runs scored, a double, home run and four RBI.
The Ragin' Cajuns finished with three home runs as a team, upping the series total to six. UL entered the series with 17 home runs through the season's first 29 games.
Parker finished off the game on the mound for the Cajuns tossing 2 2/3 innings of hitless relief and earned his first Division I victory.
The Trojans scored in their first two at bats - a leadoff home run by Bryant in the first and a Whitley RBI single in the second.
Two hitters into the second inning the Cajuns pulled even. Lance Marvel led off with a single to right field and Frederick followed with a home run to left field.
The Cajuns defense turned double plays in the third and fourth innings to stop the Trojans in their tracks.
