There is always the push for endowed athletic scholarships but that money bypasses athletics already. There is no handover.
So, what you are saying is that in a school’s athletic budget there is no line item for scholarships?

If not, then I agree with you, however, if there is a line item, then there is a handover, albeit not a check, but monies appropriated and moved accordingly.

Oh its in the budget (on paper) but you never hear of any school ever cutting a scholarship check to academics.

Being in the budget (on paper) is how Tulane makes its athletic budget seem larger.

No what im saying is universities might not fund the extra scholarships, therefore if a schools booster club or whatever wants them to compete then they would have to fund the schollies

What happens if a regular student with better academic credentials is denied admission in place of one of these scholarship 86-105 students, could they sue

Academic credentials seem pretty easy to prove for 99pct of rest of academia.especially now that some of those athletes can transfer in at last minute without even enough eligibility left to sit for required credits needed in residence to graduate. there was a supreme court victory for someone who wanted to go to texas but got stuck going to lswho. Just not sure why athletics has never been challenged on same criteria, other than the rest of the school prefers to have the athlete than the unknown smarter student (who isnt that smart, just smarter than the athlete)

So apparently football roster is being reduced from 120 to 105.
