I don’t think most people realize how little the players care about the name of the school.

Add to that, most people in the community that aren’t RP readers

They would if they were good at the sport they were playing. You can argue that point all you want but they don’t care.

Putting up a front of not caring is human nature.

They only "don't care" when they are corrected, otherwise you would never hear any name at all, right or wrong.
