My grandfather had a grocery and gas station in the Houma area.

He died when I was 3, but I would love to know his gas prices back then in 1963.

I posted a source that should at least be close for every year . . .

$.18/gal. Gas wars in San Antonio just outside gate at Kelly AFB. Two stations trying to outdo each other. 1970. Insane. 1974 the world went nuts and it was hard to find gasoline.

In general I recall .30 as a low; but short time at .19 in East Texas during those “gas war” days.

Yep. I remember paying under a quarter at the Swifty Shop in early 70s.

Lowest I remember is .77 at the gas station by the old Lafayette Health club in '96

And you could get three chili dogs for a dollar at the EconoMart in Abbeville in the late 70’s early 80’s . . . mandatory stop after spending the evening dancing at Al’s Spanish Villa
