If her HS had softball would she still have tried to play baseball? Which sport, after playing both, did she prefer?

Some of the coaches out west, the arizonas and az states, etc grew up (or in 20s and 30s) playing men's fast pitch

She was a pitcher in high school baseball. And played 1B. I actually played against her in an American Legion tournament. And she was a pretty good baseball player with the boys.
