Third-year head coach Chris McBride released his 2024 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Soccer schedule on Friday, featuring an 11-match home schedule – its most since 2013 – along with the return of some familiar non-conference foes.
Louisiana, which finished 7-9-2 last season, will host six of its 10 non-conference opponents at the Home Bank Soccer and Track Complex before jumping into Sun Belt Conference play against Texas State on Sept. 22.
The Ragin' Cajuns will open the season on the road for the second straight year with an August 15 date at in-state rival McNeese. The match against the Cowgirls will be the 16th between the schools in program history and the first regular-season contest since 2018.
Louisiana will open its home slate with five straight matches on its home pitch, beginning on August 18 against in-state rival Louisiana Tech. The Ragin' Cajuns will host a pair of former SBC rivals in over a decade – Middle Tennessee (Aug. 22) and Florida Atlantic (Feb. 25) – before wrapping up the homestand with contests against in-state foes Northwestern State (Aug. 29) and Grambling (Sept. 1).
A three-match road starts for Louisiana on September 5 with its first-ever meeting against Rice in Houston. The Ragin' Cajuns will then travel to back-to-back contests at NCAA College Cup participants LSU (Sept. 8) and Lamar (Sept. 12) before wrapping up the non-conference schedule on September 15 with a home match against UT-Rio Grande Valley.
Louisiana will host Texas State (Sept. 22), App State (Sept. 26), Troy (Oct. 6), South Alabama (Oct. 10) and Georgia State (Oct. 27) in SBC play. The Ragin' Cajuns will travel to face ULM (Sept. 29), Coastal Carolina (Oct. 13), Arkansas State (Oct. 20), Southern Miss (Oct. 24) and Marshall (Oct. 30) in SBC road matches.
The SBC Championships are scheduled for Nov. 4-10 at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex in Foley, Ala., with the winner receiving the league's automatic berth to the NCAA postseason.
Admission to all Louisiana home soccer matches is free and open to the public.
