The reality is NIL has infiltrated all the top college sports. Softball has become no different. I read an article yesterday that there are 132 college baseball coaches or programs scouting the Cape Cod Wooden Bat league this summer. Players are being contacted whether or not they are in the portal. This is becoming ridiculous and the NCAA is impotent in enforcement.

If UL Softball supporters want to continue to be a Top 25 program in this environment, they had better start contributing to NIL at UL.

Here’s a quote from Maggard in today’s Advocate:

“Here’s the reality, the landscape has changed and it’s about to change even more,” Maggard said. “Starting next year, schools that can and will have an opportunity to revenue share up to $20 million with their student athletes, they’ll still have the collectives going, they’ll be able to maximize roster scholarships – so softball would have a set roster of say 27 maximum and all 27 will be on a full ride.

Basically, he’s saying we’re effed and Glasco sees the writing on the wall.

Impotent or purposely ignoring? Seems pretty easy to enforce early contact. Ironically they dont let too many small school players go to cape cod league, lol. Guess that will change soon

Very well could be. I talked to a former diamond sports coach and those who are looking to move have representation. They have an agent reaching out to potential openings. Yeah, you may get a call gauging interest, but if you want to jump you do it with an agent marketing you.

Check out the rosters, there are plenty from G5 programs. UL has 3 participating.

We offered her when we hired Glasco. She turned us down and recommended Glasco. Her situation is different now, so who knows.

While my memory of that league is more from before covid, i was hoping you were right, that it changed.

So i started with first team, the A's....
Well i was slightly surprised they had a few more from small schools than i thought, 10, but none were actually g5, compared to 20 from P5... oh well, i guess not.

They always had a few from small schools and from local schools, in case the big boys are late getting there if they are in super regional or CWS
