He may just want to reset.
Who knows what he was going through or has been through with the loss of his daughter here. It will all come out eventually.
It is a step down for sure at TX Tech.

Maybe he was told he needed to win that regional or no extension? Why not our standard is to get to the WCWS.
I'm no Softball Insider, but there is no way Maggard wasn't renewing his contract after hosting a regional. Unless there was some violation of NCAA rules or code of conduct, he wasn't asked to leave. I have no clue why he left, but clearly, he decided his future was not here at UL.

The few who bought into the term he placed on himself were the same few who were slow to welcome him.

However years of full stadiums changed the hard to win over fan dynamic. Water long under the bridge and a non-factor.

Oh good freakin grief Are we a contender or not? Go look at Tigerdroppings after LSU gets eliminated in softball. Every post is either (A) replace the coach, or (B) buy more talent.

Teams that are in SERIOUS contention for a national championship are going to have fans with championship expectations. If our coach is ready to jump ship and chase dollars because some fans say mean things when we haven't been to the WCWS in ten years, then we're not serious contenders.

The first three pages of this thread are filled with people saying "why would he leave a team that has just as good a chance at winning a title as most P4 teams?". If we really are that good, then fans aren't going to be happy with annual moral victories and 'good season' platitudes

Glasco knows what some here don't want to admit. Texas Tech is in a much better position to buy a contending team than UL, and eventually the P4 will outspend us into irrelevance.

So it was mutual, and Dr Maggard has his splash hire in the bag already?

What this guy said. Might be the end of UL softball as we recognize it. ‘Stay tuned’
