Great point. Being 3rd string on your own team at your position kind of leaves one struggling for use of the term "elite".
Meanwhile, i thought portal closing means no new players can enter, but teams dont have to stop selecting players from the portal on that date, (but not that you said that)
I dont see how the time it takes to complete the inning or the time between pitches should affect if one is elite or not

Whether a 3rd pitcher is elite reminds me if the pete rose HOF debate: those that love gambling say "pete should be in, look how many different positions he played"... others might say, "how could pete be i , if so many times he wasnt the best at his own position on his own team so he had to move"
She is too inconsistent to be considered elite. She is very good in my opinion but not an elite pitcher to take us to the WCWS, especially at the end of this year
It has been proven many times over the years that great pitching can carry a subpar team into the post season. I reference the consecutive WCWS appearances made by LSU in which their above average pitching carried the below average hitting all season long and into the post season. The same could be said for Alabama's 2023 season in which their pitching (specifically Fouts) carried them to a WCWS appearance. the same could be said for this years Alabama team in which Beaver and Briski carried their extremely sporadic offense into the post season. A lot of LSU games during their consecutive run were won 1-0 as were many of Bama's 2023 games. Landry has not yet shown that she can be that type of dominant pitcher like Fouts nor has the staff shown that they can consistently hold teams scoreless so as to win those 1-0 games.
I still think she can
However, time is drawing short
Look forward to another year with her in the circle
Landry doesn’t have the level of confidence or mental toughness that these WCWS pitchers have. There. I said it.
