They're there. But the fans are the customers. If they are not showing up, the administration isn't selling something to them worthy of showing up to which means they have to continue to brainstorm until they do get people to attend.

Just a decade ago, the venues were a lot more full than they are today including the fund raisers (preseason RCAF Cypress Bayou Casino event was always packed but they stopped doing it). I can't tell you how many fans I talk to in the street that say the administration does a poor job engaging with them. And these are people who give to RCAF and go to games.

Improve on communication, create events surrounding the games and make sure the quality matches what's being paid for, and the most important part.don't stop promoting because people don't show up once. We have a habit of doing that with fund raisers. They do one event, and it's poorly attended so they stop. Keep on doing them (watch parties, presentations, a bowling night, etc.).

Its not where the fans are, its how the fans are engaged and the perception that goes with it.

ps perception can be right or wrong.
all I am trying to figure out is where they are and where is all the money

let me know when you figure that out and can show it to me

nothing else really matters in the whole scheme of things

Fans naturally react to what stimulates them/us. Winning, losing, head coach engagement or lack thereof, team culture, traditions, promotions, game times, game day of the week played, and so forth. Drawing any conclusions you want from there explains most things. Are there any successful businesses in America out there blaming its customers for its business shortcomings? Don't blame the Cajuns fans for waning support in football and basketball or RCAF support. It doesn't have to be this way and hopefully will not be for much longer.

You've seen the fans. 40K in NOLA and we did zero outreach there.

You've seen the money. Napier's contract, and now we're promoting from within.

Yes, we've lost people to Baton Rouge and to the state of Texas, but Lafayette is far, far from poor my friend.

THINGS CHANGE . . . WHAT, WAS THAT 10 YEARS AGO?

and as for the money, that Napier raise to $2mm was bankrolled pretty much knowing that Napier would probably not be here past one more year

it has never been reported or confirmed that the funding source of that Napier raise was going to continue to up the money for Louisiana once Napier left

Why are you so negative? Nobody will want to support the University if they read all this negativity.

Someone mentioned a while back that we tried to promote NIL by hiring a guy. I will say this publicly the university gave the guy no help. He was basically on his own and they sort of low balled him on a salary when he brought it up for employment. I spoke with him and he kinda left on not the nicest terms when he took the assistant coach position in Tennessee.

I thought he went to work for a car dealership in Lake Charles?

Also, at that point in time, wasn't NIL an outside function, not a part of the universities?

I know it's not anymore. He was a very nice guy and I enjoyed talking to him. But, I am not a proponent of nil so I was part of his problem too.

Why was the game day experience "good enough" way back when most of us were in school, despite no money, none of these efforts, and we hadn't "moved up", yet "good enough" to hook us in as the soon to be "next generation" to keep us involved for many years???

I think it’s because over time, people are prescribing less of their personal identity to the school they went to. That’s all over, not just us.

Good point, interesting and seemingly ironic though since there is more information and advertising about schools than ever before???
I am somewhat amazed the more and more i see that is out there. So with more info at their disposal to make that decision seems the decision would be more concrete and more lasting vice less

Too many choices confuses people, nothing stands out and nothing is remembered.

    TMI causes brain lock.

Personal discovery was the secret sauce way back when.
