I really don't know why state legislature needs to get involved. To sign something like this into law seems to be a waste of resources. UNC has always been willing to play state schools, particularly in basketball. If its that big of a deal there, you get the governor involved to get all parties together and come to a gentlemen's agreement.
Flip this around. Would we want the Ragin Cajuns being forced by law to play in state schools? Its probably highly encouraged within the UL System but is it mandatory? Let's not invite more meddlesome legislation than what is already created every year.
"Gentleman's Agreement"?
Gentleman? In politics?
Wish it would happen here and include home and home.
Others may feel differently, but if we never play LSU in football again except in a bowl or CFP game, its no big deal. The economics of their 100K seat stadium make it unlikely they are returning a game to a 30K seat stadium. On the other hand, the Olympic sports games can and should be returned. Wouldn't it be more beneficial we redouble our efforts on football scheduling either a Tulane, Rice, Memphis, UAB, Tulsa, and other AAC schools on annual basis with goal of one AAC school visiting Cajun Field/Lourdes Stadium annually and playing an AAC road game annually? Hope its not too much to ask, but somehow getting one of the service academies to play a football game here will be terrific and we can return the game. IMO, that seems so much more interesting than playing a future football game in Baton Rouge.
LSU home and home in football is just not an option because of the economics
however, LSU should be required to play and pay for at least one money game a year with one of the other state schools in order to keep that payday in Louisiana
For other sports, the AAC suggestion and armed services suggestions are good ones, but in addition to that, we should be playing games every year with likes of LaTech, McNeese, SouthEastern, UNO
