Thread: You are my sunshine.....

    This is what i propose!

Schools like Oklahoma, Notre Dame, USC, and FSU have unmatched traditions.

Let’s explore why that might be:
    1. Pregame Rituals and Tribalism:
o Football and other sporting events are akin to tribal gatherings, simulating war between communities.
o Schools with strong traditions capitalize on this tribal aspect.
o For example, USC’s “Tribute to Troy” is a pregame ritual that adds to the excitement and sense of belonging.

Creating an electrifying fanfare can significantly enhance the game day experience and foster a sense of tribalism among fans. Let’s explore some strategies to achieve that:
    1. Fanfare and Pre-Game Rituals:
o Fanfares serve as powerful emotional triggers, signaling that something momentous is about to unfold.
o Schools like Notre Dame and USC have iconic pre-game fanfares that evoke excitement and anticipation.
o Consider composing a unique fanfare for your team, one that resonates with your community’s spirit and traditions.
o Incorporate trumpets, drums, and other instruments to create a captivating sound that stirs emotions.
    2. Modern Music and Cultural Relevance:
o While traditional fight songs have their place, modern music can also energize fans.
o The Pride of Acadiana (POA) should explore playing contemporary tunes that resonate with Louisiana’s culture.
o Think about incorporating Cajun, zydeco, or jazz elements into the musical repertoire.
o Engage with local artists to create original compositions that celebrate the region’s heritage.
    3. Collaboration with the Pride of Acadiana (POA):
o The POA plays a pivotal role in shaping the game day atmosphere.
o Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Bands and the Director of Bands to brainstorm ideas.
o Involve students, alumni, and fans in the creative process. Seek their input on what resonates with them.
o Experiment with different musical styles during pre-game warm-ups and halftime shows.
    4. Mascot Magic:
o Mascots are beloved symbols of school pride and spirit.
o Consider having your mascot make a grand entrance before the game.
o Whether it’s a roaring lion, a charging bull, or a spirited gator, the mascot can set the tone for battle.
o Interactive moments with the mascot, like high-fiving fans or leading cheers, enhance the overall experience.
    5. Live Gator? Maybe!
o Bringing out a live gator (safely, of course!) would be a memorable spectacle.
o Imagine the crowd’s reaction as the gator emerges onto the field.
o It would symbolize the fierce rivalry and tribalism inherent in college sports.
o Just ensure proper precautions and animal welfare guidelines are followed.

Also i suggest the POA spell out Script Cajuns on the field just like Ohio State dots the I we can dot the J.

Dont reinvent the wheel use the wheel to your advantage

It might be practically impossible, but if i was leading the charge in fan engagement. How many instructors, musical artist, band directors we have working at Angelle Hall?

We need to get them together in a room, arrange a piece of music that is strictly Cajun for marching band, get rid of Jambalaya and You are my Sunshine. I mean songs like The Mardi Gras Song, The Back Door, Parlez Nous A Boire.. I dont care whatever resonates with the crowd and while we spell out Cajuns.

If you know how wonderful it would be to Cajun Culture and the community.

We have talented artist at UL time to call in the troops!

If we cant do that we can do Cupid Shuffle, Boogie Shoes, Sweet Caroline if that is to tradtional, or Louisiana Saturday Night.

    I would want hardcore traditional!

We could do Louisiana Saturday Night! This is for you Turbine

With that tunnel having been outfitted with lighted "Ragin Cajuns" on the ceiling potentially pulsating in tune with the beat of Back in Black but also the ability to feel the reverberations of the Bell as well.

We'd go from not even in contention to one of the 10 best entrances in College Football.
Lets fix the bell. Or it could be over the loud speaker. I was looking what could be a crowd pleaser. What about TNT when they are in the tunnel? Ring the bell in the beginning.

Let the anticipation build let them run out when they start with TNT and have the smoke and a loud cannon when they are coming out.

Play it one after the other. It would be epic.

Louisiana has a long history of using the cannon.

At some point they didn't want to wake up the people who knowingly moved into the neighborhood who went to bed at 7pm

We could always set up an old Howitzer in the UL 70's Bush in the NEZ. Fire one for real at the Bell tower in the (SEZ). Good elevation from the 70s bush and a range of prob 130 yards. Fire a round one second before cadence begins in the Hells Bells intro.

That would beat Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Florida State.
