Thread: Cajun Baseball RPI (South Alabama impact)

  1. UL Baseball Cajun Baseball RPI (South Alabama impact)

Through games of Tuesday 5/14, the Cajuns currently sit at an RPI of .57102, good for an RPI ranking of 38.

Winning 2/3 vs. South Alabama would yield an RPI of .57029 (very modest drop), presently good for an RPI ranking of 39 (all other things being equal).

Sweeping South Alabama would yield an RPI of .57567, presently good for an RPI ranking of 31 (all other things being equal).

Finally, a sweep of South Alabama and winning the Sun Belt Tournament undefeated (wins vs. #8 Old Dominion, #4 Appalachian State, #5 James Madison, and #2 Southern Mississippi) would yield an RPI of .58426, presently good for an RPI ranking of 23 (all other things being equal).

    Great outline, most appreciated.

D1 DSR .626 putting the Cajuns @ 21 is very solid news for Louisiana.

If im remembering correct, Kendall Rogers (D1 Baseball) said that he could see the committee giving a SBC team host if they get their RPI in the top 25. Very unlikely scenario, but also will be interesting to look at if we make a run in Montgomery

Time to get the brooms ready!

    Thank you for your analysis.

The interesting thing to watch now is whether Southern Miss can get into (and stay) in the RPI Top 25. This would add two wins (one loss) to the Cajuns' Q1 record . or 5-7.

BA has us as the only Sun Belt team (sort of) lock for a bid.

Thanks for posting that. It’s a good read, for the Sun Belt, but also for all the leagues. Interesting stuff.

Shows a complete understanding of the system the committee uses if you can call that a system.

Baseball America still has the Cajuns in College Station

The latest D1Baseball projection has the Cajuns as the 2 in Starkville, playing Georgia Tech and Lamar as the 4

I can still remember some years back, we were about to play Texas A&M and they innocently played 'Put Me in, Coach.' When they realized the Cajuns were all singing it, they cut the music.

Our fans sang it all the way to the end.

I remember that. There was a highlight video on the Ragin' Cajuns web site that showed a clip of the Cajuns fans clapping and singing along to it for that game.
