It appears, Alyson is going to build this program from the ground up, one step, at a time, with fundamental execution being key.
Step one: Double play
This seems positive, but it also means we’re allowing someone on base more than most as well.
For what it's worth, this is the second year in a row that we have done this. Step one was made by Hunter Veach last year; Coach Habetz is taking Step 2.
I did kind of laugh at this. It's a cool stat and would be much cooler if we had a winning record and were in the hunt to host a regional like usual.
"Let's walk her to set up another double play" is not the strategy, but when things are going bad it's hard from keeping your mind from going there just for a laugh.
Allowing a lot of batters on base will increase the odds of getting a double play but it is playing with fire.
