Interestingly, in the New Orleans area, both Louisiana and USM had more fans than Tulane, though LSU accounted for most fans there.
If that number were correct it would make Cajun Fans in Acadiana an impressive bunch.

15,000 in attendance at The Swamp would equate 150,000 just from Acadiana at Tiger Stadium.

We were good in every sport in 2014. Probably why we had more interest than Tulane in New Orleans at that time. Probably is different now that Tulane is having football success. Let’s get our football team back to the 2020/2021 level and we can impact that number. The 30/50 split for Cajuns/Tigers in Acadiana sounds about right. However Acadiana is several parishes. In Lafayette Parish, the Cajuns may have the advantage.

Do they even still print a paper?
Good f ing riddance. Shows out of touch media, local and nationally are out of sync. They are too busy pushing narrow narratives across the board.

    HA!

Man…I don’t like being Negative Nancy, but on that aspiration, we flat out don’t have the desire for that from university leadership. 2018-2021 was WAY too much work.

I can promise that 30/50 split is not even close. I wish it was that good but it is certainly only a wish.

Why such incredible apathy about attending LSU games? ...

It was actually fairly even in Lafayette and surrounding parishes; Cajuns did not exceed 40% in any Parish, and most Acadiana parishes were between 28% and 35%. The rest of the area from Alexandria South we were generally in third place with 3-5%, with more in the River Parishes than further west. By comparison, La Tech was around 12% in Lincoln Parish, and surprisingly, Tech outside of Ruston generally trailed ULM. Even in Ruston, ULM was third with about 10%; with LSU being first, and Texas in the west and Mississippi State in the east being well represented. Alabama had significant numbers pretty much statewide, probably averaging 3-5%.

Absolutely and the numbers prove it.

    Silent Majority.

Give them something to cheer for and promote it half as much as the media promtoes LSU and watch the result.

To view knee jerk fandom in the light you present it, Tiger Stadium would need to be fill with far more than 15,000 fans from Acadiana.

If "you" say its more (and it is not) then why does the other 89% of the State not support LSU to the degree Acadiana does?

Obviously, Gannett has more or less deserted Lafayette/Acadiana. They have so pathetically downgraded the DA, its here in name only. Gannett has 8 newspaper titles in Louisiana. Probably one LSU sportswriter for their 8 LA papers. To get some Cajuns sports in, will need to be spoon fed to the DA. Print IS folding into the internet, but the DA doesn't have to be done this poorly, turned into a rag on purpose. Reducing print frequency while upholding some quality local standard can be done even in this day and age. It seems Gannett is more interested in propping up USA Today and to hoot with the rest.
