Good weekend!
Phenomenal softball weekend. Moved up 3 spots in the RPI as of right now to #13. Will see if that stays at the end of the weekend.
Big series at next weekend vs Troy. We sweep and we set ourselves up very nicely to be in the hosting conversation.
Cajuns' softball moved up to #11 in the RPI this weekend. The difference between where they are at #11 and the #13 spot is that special RPI bonus that only a few teams receive. The criteria seems to be steeped in the strength of your non-conference schedule on the road (as I mentioned last week). The RPI bonus awarded is the same as beating an RPI Top 25 team ... .0026. This bonus alone was enough to vault the Cajuns past both Texas A&M and Oklahoma State. Last week, only 10 teams qualified for this RPI bonus. This week, it was 12.
Also, with Colorado State just outside the Base RPI Top 75 at 76 ... there is an additional potential RPI bonus of .0013 looming.
Warren Nolan is consistent with the official NCAA reporting of RPI and RPI ranking, unless there is a mistake in a game result (which both the NCAA and Warren Nolan occasionally make). Both have the Cajuns at an RPI of .63791 and an RPI ranking of 15.
It is the Adjusted RPI that the NCAA reports, but Warren Nolan does not include in their RPI report. These bonuses that represent the difference between RPI and Adjusted RPI are relatively well known and you can add them to the respective RPIs (what I call Base RPI) to determine what the Adjusted RPIs are (and Adjusted RPI rankings) before the official report is published. The only tricky RPI bonus is determination of the teams that qualify for the special Road NC SOS bonus, which the Cajuns do (.0026 bonus) ... one of twelve teams this week that do qualify. Without it, the Cajuns would have an Adjusted RPI ranking of 13.

Colorado State just moved into the Base RPI Top 75 again through the 4/29 results published today ... adding .0013 RPI to the Cajuns' total. Chattanooga had recently moved into the Base RPI Top 75 (yesterday ... results through 4/28), now at 74 (good for .0026). Louisiana is now at #10 in the official RPI, surpassing Missouri.

The Cajuns dropped three spots in the RPI rankings primarily because Colorado State (1 win) and Chattanooga (2 wins) fell out of the Base RPI Top 75, costing the Cajuns .0039 in RPI bonus points. Given that both teams are so close to the Top 75, this could be a fluctuation that continues to selection day. Cajuns fans want to be fans of both Colorado State (76 - Base RPI .54897) and Chattanooga (80 - .54787) ... especially Chattanooga. Minnesota is in the #75 spot with an RPI of .54916. Thus, Colorado State is right there on top of Minnesota ... as is Chattanoogs ... but they fell a bit after a damaging win over 11-39 and #252 Georgia State. Thankfully the Cajuns avoided them on the Sun Belt schedule.
At #13, the Cajuns now have an Adjusted RPI of .65901 ... .003970 behind Missouri at #10 (basically the RPI bonus points lost as the difference). #12 Texas A&M (.65946) and #11 Oklahoma State (.66040) are just ahead of the Cajuns. Meanwhile, Alabama (.65807) at #14 is right on the heels of the Cajuns.
