Louisiana Track and Field is in Monroe Louisiana for the Warhawk Classic, their final chance to compete before the Sun Belt Conference Championships in two weeks.
The Cajuns are coming off a big weekend in which they set a pair of school records.
Alexandra Johnson became the fastest Cajun in the 800 with her time of 2:08.97. Trejun Jones, Zakhy Munro, Floyd Pond, and Jamhad Booth broke the men's 4x100 record with a time of 39.31. Jones and Booth were part of the relay team that set the record last year at the NCAA Championships.
The Cajuns also saw numerous distance records fall on the weekend. John Walker McDonald ran the second-fastest 3000 in school history at 8:40.55 while Nathan Fontan was right behind him at 8:43.62 to move to third in school history. Peyton Chiasson, 3:49.07, and Isabelle Russell, 4:33.66, had the fourth-fastest 1500 times for the men and women while moving up to fifth in both events were Andrew Leck, 3:49.90, and Ella Segura, 4:34.65.
Louisiana looks to make noise at the SBC Championships in two weeks, which will also be held in Monroe.
