Reminder this event is tomorrow and will have a Ragin Cajuns influence. Event is 4 to 8 at Blackham Coliseum. This is a Steve Gleason Foundation ALS fund raiser. 45 dollars provides you all the food and drink you can possibly partake of. We will take cash, check, or cards. Hope some of you can make it.

Note the Louisiana Voodoo Arena Football team has been very cooperative with the F5 committee. They have actually helped with the set up for tomorrow. In fact turf for Saturday’s inaugural game has already been laid. If you attend the event, you will walk on the turf. Also, silent auction items available for bid are outstanding. Things like cypress tables, chain saws, fire pits, Cajuns tickets, wooden planters, bicycles, sports memorabilia, and a new bowling ball are only a few of the dozens of items available. I will be helping man the auction tables to answer questions in that regard. Come by and say hello.

Dish Judging underway now. Brian Maggard is one of those and seems to be enjoying that role. Some bids already being placed on an outstanding set of auction items.

Great to hear Maggard was able to attend!

Was Marlin there also to Support a good cause and mingle with the Ragin’ Cajun community and fan base?

Coach Marlin, all of his assistants, and several MBB players were at today’s event. Coach Dez from football also attended. Former Cajun Jake Delhomme was present and bid on some of the items in the silent auction.

Had a good conversation with John Taylor and his brother Will. The boys are locked in on Southern Miss and I expect a different attitude this weekend. We talked about Houston Christian and it is what it is. They realize what is at stake. John’s entire family is in from Oregon this weekend so I hope he can show out for them! John is a great young man.

Do we have any players that are not great young men?

Interesting that so many of our young athletes can be described as great young folks. I’ve met tennis players, golfers, as well as our other teams members and leave the conversations thinking, “what a great young person.” Always proud to realize that.
And then get to go to a function like this and see so many of our alumni participating and assisting and feel the same way. And at my age they’re still all young people.

We had other baseball players and stAff members at the F5 event as well. All people representing athletics including Coach Marlin and his guys spoke to and shook hands with as many people as possible. Committee thanks everyone involved with Cajun athletics for making the event successful. Note, ALL auction items with one exception were sold either at or beyond the minimum bid. Most were sold at a price well beyond the minimum bid. The one exception was an LSU football helmet signed by Coach Brian Kelly. The item did go for 500 so we thank that person for his support. If you did not attend this year, talk to someone who did and ask if they enjoyed the event. Likely they will speak in glowing terms of how much they enjoyed themselves. Hopefully that encourages you to consider attending next year on the last Thursday in April.
