I’m pretty sure the existing turf in place and existing end zone seats played into that too since it wasn’t a total stadium tear down

An implosion would have likely f’d up both the field and surrounding seats. I’d guess the trees also added to that decision

Easier said than done. Remember the state moved the big oak between New Iberia and Jenerette years back, was controversial due to the six figure cost? Arborist had a multi year deal to manage the transplant.

I seriously doubt that. Most implosions are capable of controlling the debris very tightly. I know when the tower in Lake Charles was imploded last year the whole building came down very close to the original footprint. I personally talked with the person responsible for clearing the area before and after the implosion. Two pieces of plywood (other than paper and light weight materials) was the only thing found outside of the original building area.

Implosions aren't always the most economical means of taking large structures down. I suspect that was the case with the stadium.

It's certainly a big project. I think you're talking about that very nice oak they moved to Weeks Island Rd. and 90?

If that's the same one, I passed by not all that long ago and could not believe all that work, which was successful and she's breathing, was surrounded by much needed TLC i.e. grass High, weeds and other bs. Of course bound to happen. Oak looked very strong.

TG area is ready for Oaks. Way past time to improve that bald landscape. That Grove at Ole' Miss is putting us to shame.

I often think how amazing the tailgate/gameday atmosphere would be if we developed around McNaspy. Girard Park would be ground zero and all the beautiful houses along Girard Park Dr. would be the Greek houses. Oh well.
