The fan that doesn’t want to sit in stadium seats and fight long restroom lines, beer lines and $h!++y confession stand food lines. The fan that likes the more luxurious things in a stadium experience, OLOL stadium will now have something to offer. Cajun field has NEVER catered to them. This stadium has a chance to develop a whole new fan base IMO.
    Well, that's a different take.

There's more old women in the Superdome than anyone else. Nice little old lady will turn into a demon

This generation doesnt look or view football the same way. Kids have to much entertainment now versus back in the 70’s and 80’s.

The University is not doing what needs to be done in bringing in new fans. Like we all talked about there is alot more to the situation then shorter lines at concessions etc.

Fans want to have fun, and partly it might be because we are G5 vs a P5 school. I honestly do not think it is as important as people on this forum make it out to be. Also i do not think ESPN+ is to blame either.

Just like television todays kids do not watch tv like the older generation does. They play video games or watch YouTube. Things they get involved in are interactive, well everything we do needs to be participation and then involving this generation!

But these same kids are taken to Texas, Texas A&M or LSU by their parents and are taught the tradition that has made their programs great and the excitement of attending games there. There's no hill for kids to play on or day care center for them. They sit in the stadium and learn to enjoy the game. That is what is missing at UL. Our failure to have developed first students, then alumni and fans to appreciate any kind of tradition and excitement of attending UL football and basketball games. There always seems to be excuses that cause us to have to find a gimmick to get people and their kids to games but never address what it takes to keep them coming back.

Agree with what you are saying. I think excitement and tradition is developed when a team has EXTENDED winning and greatness. Don't even try to use the 2 years we had during Covid. That was an extraordinary situation and it was NOT long enough. It was essentially a good start, but then it was blown up. People want winning and winning big games over a time period where a tradition can take place. I see no other way. It begins with the team and no gimmick is going to make this happen.

Here is the key those fan bases have 90k people attending their games and their kids etc We do not have the fanbase or we do but its been a culture of not involving the younger generation. Traditions are one thing, but these kids are smart. Do not think this generation is lazy, they look at things differently. We need a sense of community at our games , which is severely lacking at our games.

Think about this generation they are on Tiktok, Twitter, Instagram etc. which is their community. No one goes to bars anymore that is a Gen X thing. Same with playing with friends online etc.

We have to make it where not just one person wants to show up but a freaking group of people want to show up. In the past 20 yrs we have gotten away from that. Just like today regular person will not spend 1500 dollars for a tailgate spot, but they will show up to Moncla Park, or to a festival etc. those are cheap and they can gather with there friends and socialize.

Here at UL we have totally gotten away from that. Older generation already has that because most of them already go to football games for fun.

Well not this generation so we have to think what do they do for fun and put that in the Gameday experience.

Thats not just social media, i am saying sense of community. Just like advertising social media has it’s place, but it is not the end all be all when it comes to marketing, still have to do the tried and true methods that has always worked in the past.

We had great tailgating when Hud was coach. Then we had great winning when Napier was coach. But, under both scenarios we never had great in stadium attendance and the university has never addressed that. As has been discussed before, changing policies negatively impacted tailgating. Even when winning, game attendance was low. The entire event is not being addressed. The things that made tailgating great need to be revisited and the lack of in-stadium game excitement needs to be addressed. The things that make people keep coming back are being overlooked. There are over 500,000 people in Acadiana plus 20,000 UL students. Why can't we fill a 30,000 seat stadium?
