Might as well start it early so they will have practice.
And before that was Evangel in Shreveport. I heard they were getting kids from North Texas.
Wonder if our Lafayette High 1991 football situation would be handled differently today. Friday afternoon, before our final football game of the season, we were informed that our 9 previous wins were being stripped. 10-0 undefeated season, gone.
You might get an answer tomorrow for that. Opelousas High’s coach is taking the LHSAA to court over the forfeiture of the state title. I think he has zero chance but you never know.
I’ve seen many situations like this, rules are black and white. LHSAA has to remain steadfast with zero tolerance or they end up like the NCAA.
Courts already ruled that the LHSAA is a private entity. Judges who rule in favor of coaches (See Newman basketball injunction) should find another job. OHS already appealed and lost so the coach lawyered up to sue the school board and everyone up to the LHSAA. He should be fired for the cheating in the first place.
The documents have never been published. It’s pretty much one sided info out there with the OHS supporters claiming it was a homeless player at the center of it all who may or may not have set foot on the field at some point in the season. Wouldn’t be surprised it’s more than that.
Some coaches just forget players (and many parents) know where the players live. OHS coach is mad at the reporting school. Those of you who coach know only a principal can bring a complaint to LHSAA, parents always have the info on residency issues. Never count on school staff, that’s always a losing hand with the LHSAA.
Up at WMHS, if I remember correctly the LHSAA finally busted Coach Shows at some point.
Southside is ripe for the picking. It’s been made public kids are out of zone and even out of parish contributing to the overcrowding. Spilling over to sports isn’t a hard stretch.
Private schools are notorious for having an open staff position for mom or dad to get players. Legit, yet slimy.
A Louisiana state high school football championship trophy is headed back to Opelousas High School after all.
The Division II non-select program sanctioned in February for alleged use of an ineligible player has "reached an agreement" with the Louisiana High School Athletic Association to reinstate the vacated title, head coach Jimmy Zachery told the Acadiana Advocate on Monday.
