If we get to 40 wins I would think our rpi would be fine for an at large. Couple that with a regular season championship and we should be a 2 seed. IMO

12 and 7 the rest of the season gets us to 40. Winning the 4 midweek games left is paramount.

Just to give a comparison... Of course every year is different... 2022... Georgia Southern finished 2nd in the 6th rated conference (Warren Nolan). Lost to the Cajuns in the Tournament Championship and HOSTED. Their final RPI that year was 25... but that is after sustaining 2 losses in their regional. Texas State won the SBC that year and got sent to Stanford. Not sure why Ga Southern hosted over TSU, although TSU lost out earlier in the SBC tourney (to the Cajuns).

Last year, Coastal (1) and Southern Miss (2) both hosted regionals, finished the regular season separated by only 1 game for the conference regular season championship (5th rated conference). Their final RPI's were 19 and 21 (respectively), also after sustaining 2 losses in their regionals.

Seems like we need to get our RPI in the 30's to have a shot at hosting. We probably need win each conf series, the midweeks left and maybe need to TCB in the conf tourney. We still may need help.

If we run away with the regular season and win the tourney, I don’t care what our rpi is, like turbine was saying, we deserve to host.

What was our RPI last year on selection day?

It was 47th and the lowest RPI rated team chosen by the committee.

Like it or not both hosting and at-large selections have historically been closely aligned with the RPI. Since the tournament expanded to 64 teams it has been extremely rare to have teams host with an RPI higher than 22 at the time of selection.

Worst rpi to host in last three years is Texas AM at 22 in 2022 (our regional).

Before that, I think UCLA hosted as a Pac 12 champion in 2011 as a 34. I don’t think there has been one higher than that.

We went from 67 on Monday of conference tournament week to 47 on Memorial Day.

Cajuns are currently 55 in the rpi. There are 19 teams ahead of them with losing records in conference. Notre dame 2 wins Auburn 2 wins lsu 3 wins ole miss 5 wins. To name a few. Either the rpi is flawed or it’s flawed. Haha

No rule. Just look at the SEC every year.
