I'm probably jumping the gun here, but one projection has us moving up to #15. Do we have a realistic shot at hosting a regional if we can win the regular season and tournament?

I think it would be a really tall order to get a host spot. Take it for what it is, but after the win today Warren Nolan predictions had the Cajuns finishing 45-11 with a RPI of 29. That means only losing 2 more games the rest of the way. So that’s assuming we take 2/3 from Coastal and sweep Southern Miss. That is a lot to ask.
I’m looking again now and WN has the prediction of the Cajuns finishing 41-15 with a RPI of 53. That doesn’t get it done imo.
Of course none of those predictions account for the conference tournament. And they are just computer predictions so you know…grain of salt. But I think it paints a decent picture of what lies ahead.
Hosting is a pipe dream. Basically it would take running the table, and it’s baseball….that ain’t happening. The early season (and most midweek) opponents have just had terrible seasons, and there’s nothing you can do about it.
Win the conference and take care of business in the midweek from here on. Get in a regional (preferably NOT in College Station-the Aggies are probably the best team in the country) and play ball. This team has the pitching depth to be a serious player in postseason play if they stay healthy.
Make the tournament and create our last inning magic!! Overall , we in a good place
They would not be sitting home with the conference regular season championship in their pocket, IMHO. Even with RPI of 50. But the RPI will improve if the Cajuns play well enough to remain in first... Maybe Brian could tell us the last time a regular season champion of the 4th or 5th rated conference was left out. And the lat time a SBC champ was left out & what the conference rank was that year.
But - lots of baseball left to be played by the Cajuns and opponents. So, we'll see.
What was our RPI last year on selection day?
If we get to 40 wins I would think our rpi would be fine for an at large. Couple that with a regular season championship and we should be a 2 seed. IMO
12 and 7 the rest of the season gets us to 40. Winning the 4 midweek games left is paramount.
