And I don't think anyone here is going to say they can do it, but we can't.
Many of us will say we could do it, but we won't. If done properly, the politicians wouldn't have enough money to divert to their pet projects [or their pockets].

We could always drum back up the “tax the rich” and “big businesses” rhetoric. Increase income and “big business” taxes to fund higher ed. That way the same money can still end up in pockets of those roaming the Capitol.

LOL... LA government's favorite populist activity... Tax the folks that provide all the private sector jobs in your state so much that they elect to leave the state.

Economics 101: The end consumer ALWAYS pays ALL the taxes incurred by those manufacturing and/or supplying goods and services to him: Taxes on business are simply transfer payments by businesses of end consumer's money.

And it is just appalling how many people miss this simple fact.

Maybe with California and the 20 dollar minimum wage for the fast food industry might explain it in real time.

CF, saw this article, thought about you. Seems TSAB is worried about their image all of a sudden.

Of course, you see no mention of #132.

Damn. Us, LA Tech, ULM and LSU all in the bottom 30.

How is APR even still a thing with the transfer portal, though? Are the rules like the old days, where if an athlete transfers from the program that initially gave them a scholarship as a freshman, then it counts as a negative against that school if they leave before graduating?

Im old enough to remember when ncaa said teams were going to have postseason bans for poor apr scores, lmao

And dont forget their million dollar budget and staff that works full time just on APR, under the guise of a tutoring center

North Carolina has a flat income tax, instead of a progressive tax structure. Texas and Florida no state income tax. Simple tax policies make a difference over the long term attracting corporations and higher paying jobs and retirees to your State. Louisiana's public sector culture is tax and spend, tax and spend. Higher education needs to dramatically slim down its administrative overhead to gain public support. Hopefully Gov. Landry and this legislature will be disciplined in changing the culture, simplify the State's tax structure.

Well he currently appears focused on national red meat social issues...and then repaying favors back to Cleo Fields and the trial lawyers in Louisiana, so we'll see.

Might need the Legislators themselves and the industry groups to carry him.

$400 mil total for 8 campuses. Glad they are showing leadership. Time for them to focus on research. We’ll keep doing what we do. I’m very interested in seeing the research numbers for UL for the 2026-27 years. I expect a significant growth.
NSF grants are already having a major impact.
