    UL Baseball Lamar Baseball

What’s the backstory on why we don’t schedule them? Vaguely remember there being a reason but don’t remember what it was

Last time we played in baseball was 2008

Robe canceled them years ago. I don’t remember the whole story..I believe it had to do with schools giving out scouting reports when there was a handshake agreement they would not share them.

Believe it was an in-state coaches agreement. How Lamar got involved I can’t remember. I’m sure someone on this board will know.

Lamar just swept OU on the road. Very good team

Former Cajun Peyton Havard pitching for the Cardinals. 5.29 ERA. Hopes seemed to be high for Peyton when he got here.

Two hours away. Would be a great midweek opponent. Would help more than all the SWAC schools we have

There were always rumors of bad officiating in all sports at Lamar.

McDonald Gymnasium was famous for that.

I thought it was a falling out between Robe and their longtime manager??? Nonetheless, I’d rather Lamar than Grambling/Southern. Although Southern used to be a proud program.

Gilligan was the manager’s name. The 2 coaches and teams weren’t getting along, the the umpiring was terrible.

From what I remember, we always got hosed by the officials at Lamar. One year, their coach Jim Gilligan was quoted in their newspaper complaining about the umpiring in Lafayette. Robe dropped them from the schedule going forward.

You guys may certainly be right, but now I’m starting to wonder who we dropped years ago due to the scouting report issue? I know it happened…just can’t remember who was involved.

I don’t know why I thought it was Lamar who was involved.
