The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Baseball team makes its final tuneup before opening Sun Belt Conference play beginning on Friday when it hosts in-state rival Tulane for a three-game series at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. The series resumes on Saturday at 2 p.m. before the series' finale at 1 p.m. Sunday. All three games will be streamed live on ESPN+ with fans able to listen in the Lafayette area on KPEL-FM (96.5) and worldwide on the Varsity Network app.
Due to construction around Cajun Field, fans are encouraged to access the Ragin' Cajuns Athletics Complex from Bertrand Drive (Gate 1 - by the Home Bank Soccer and Track Complex; and Gate 2 – off Bertrand Drive and across from Agave Mexican Grill and Cantina).
Louisiana (6-6) capped a four-game roadtrip with a 3-0 victory at in-state foe Northwestern State on Wednesday. Murphy Brooks and five relievers combined on a five-hitter while Lee Amedee had three hits and a pair of RBI to lead the Ragin' Cajuns.
Trey LaFleur (.419-2-8), Amedee (.320-1-3), Jose Torres (.304-1-6), Josh Alexander (.290-1-4) and Kyle DeBarge (.260-5-13) are the top hitters for Louisiana.
Right-hander LP Langevin (1-0, 3.09 ERA) will earn the start in Friday's opener for Louisiana with southpaw Andrew Herrmann (1-1, 2.31 ERA) expected to pitch on Saturday. The Ragin' Cajuns will close out the series sending right-hander Carson Fluno (1-0, 3.95 ERA) to the mound against the reigning American Athletic Conference Tournament champions.
Tulane (9-4) picked up a pair of midweek victories beginning with a wild 14-12 decision at Nicholls before earning a 9-4 win over Grambling.
Jackson Linn (.500-3-8) is the top hitter for the Green Wave with Nathan Rose (.317-1-5), Gavin Schulz (.317-2-12) and Marcus Cline (.316-1-7) next.
Southpaw Luc Fladda (0-0, 2.25 ERA) is slated to open the series on the mound for Tulane with right-hander Chander Welch (2-0, 2.76 ERA) expected to pitch on Saturday. Right-hander Will Clements (1-0, 5.25 ERA) is scheduled to pitch in the series finale on Sunday.
