Is that a Lafayette thing or just a Dan McDonald pronunciation?

The announcers during the Astros classic pronounced it the more traditional way that I've always heard it pronounced

Here's the video for anyone who missed it. What an amazing effort by this kid! Ball was in glove until the collision. Would have been a PHENOMENAL Sports Center Play of the Day - 1st - IMHO... Hope and pray he's OK. He has quickly become one of my favorites. We need him in the line-up. But, most of all, we need him to not be injured and remain in good health.
