Louisiana men's tennis refuses to slow down earning their fifth straight win, knocking off Coastal Carolina 4-2 at Cajun Courts. The Ragin' Cajuns have now won seven of their last eight matches as they opened Sun Belt Conference action on Thursday.
Louisiana opened the match with a doubles win on court two, with Vasil Dimitrov and Leonard Tramolay earning the 6-4 victory. After the Chanticleers tied the score with a win on court one, the Cajuns needed to get to work to win the doubles point. Trailing the set 5-2, Mason Landreth and William Ribero stormed back to win the set, 7-6 (7-5), and take the doubles point.
Oriol Fillat Gimenez started singles action with a win on court five, 6-2, 6-4, but Coastal Carolina responded with a win on court three. Vasil Dimitrov earned his fifth straight singles win, taking it on court four, 7-5, 6-1, putting Louisiana on the verge of clinching. The Chanticleers took the match on court two and looked to steal a road win with courts one and six heading into a third set. Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez put those chances to rest with a dominant third set, winning 6-2, 5-7, 6-0 on court one, and securing the match for Louisiana.
It's a quick turnaround for the Cajuns as they host South Florida at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Cajun Courts.
