Thread: Louisiana D. Coordinator: Jim Salgado

  1. Default Re: Cajuns D Coordinator

The hardest thing to earn, is the respect of your players.

This coach should have it in spades.

This will be very interesting to see. I think our program with this guy calling shots on D, is gonna get us going.

Recruiting isn't necessary for a guy with his resume. Some coaches are not great off campus recruiters and so if you really want the guy, you make certain accommodations. He can do most of his work via camps this summer and video. No problem.

Agreed, just means the slack needs to be picked up from someone. I would think as the coordinator though, he needs to be able to close guys that assistants bring in for camps and OV’s.

Also, he might be a heckuva recruiter, just hard to glean from his resume.

Will he be able to recruit the south. Any connections?

Any idea of the type of D he'll run? Will he fit the available talent to his D or are we looking at square peg, round hole D as the available talent is concerned?

Ton of experience. He ought to be able to match X's & O's with anyone. Anxious to learn what type of defense he runs. Picking up Coach Stoker was a good hire as well. Beginning to feel a little more optimistic about upcoming season.

Salgado will do fine, I hope.

I’ll be ecstatic if it’s anything other than 3 down linemen with a soft zone.

Do we know anything else besides his name and how many stops he's had? Style? Scheme? I want to be excited as much as the next guy.

If he can't get it done, then it will be over for Desormeaux. He has an extensive resume, coaching experience at different positions. His job is to evaluate the roster on the defensive side of the football from game video and do basic install this spring. He will get an up-close look at the talent in the spring and adjust his scheme.
