Louisiana women's basketball capped off Senior Day with a 59-46 victory over Arkansas State with a strong third quarter and stellar performances from Jaylyn James and Tamera Johnson on Saturday inside the Cajundome.

The win moved the Cajuns to 12-12 on the year and 7-7 in Sun Belt action as Louisiana completed the season sweep over Arkansas State (13-12, 6-8 SBC).

James led all scorers with 17 points with all her field goals (5) coming from beyond the arc. Johnson recorded her third double-double of the season as she registered 14 rebounds and 13 points. Her 14 rebounds were the second-most the Lafayette, Louisiana, native has hauled in this year.

With the game tied at 24-24 at the half, the Ragin' Cajuns pushed the lead to 18 after outscoring the Red Wolves, 21-3, in the third quarter. Louisiana opened the half with a 3-pointer from Brandi Williams before Johnson hit a jumper and James forced the Red Wolves to call a timeout after her 3-pointer.

Following the timeout, the Cajuns kept their foot on the gas extending their lead to 19, 43-34, before Arkansas State scored their first point of the quarter on a free throw with 1:31 remaining. For the quarter, Louisiana held Arkansas State to 1-of-12 shooting from the floor while outrebounding them by five.

The first half was a see-saw affair with six lead changes and four ties. Louisiana held a slim lead, 13-12, after the first quarter before the Red Wolves evened the game in the second, outscoring Louisiana in the quarter, 12-11.

Robinson finished the game eight points and eight rebounds while shooting 4-of-4 from the floor. The Louisiana bench played a pivotal role again as they outscored the Red Wolves, 17-4, while the Cajuns outrebounded Arkansas State, 40-29, including 10-4 on the offensive glass.

Defensively, Louisiana held Arkansas State to 28.3-percent from the floor and limited them to just 3-of-24 from beyond the arc. Louisiana has now held six of their last eight opponents to 55-or-less points.

Louisiana hits the road next week as it takes on South Alabama on Wednesday at 7 p.m. before taking on Texas State at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
